Digitisation is four jobs, not one: capture the page cleanly, read the characters, attach the index fields that make a file findable, and have a human confirm the result against the original. Skip any of the four and you have a folder of images nobody can search. Content Factory runs all four in one studio, in the language the document is actually written in.

Scanning produces an image of the page. Digitisation produces text you can search, index fields you can filter on, and a file your systems can read. Scanning is the first step of four.
