Why the board decides the book

Content is the smaller half of a textbook commission. The board decides the sequence, the depth, the question types, the marks per unit, the prescribed texts and often the pacing by term. A well-written chapter that does not match the blueprint is not adopted, and a reviewer will not read past the coverage map to find out whether the prose is good.

So we start with the specification and build the coverage map — every outcome against the page that teaches it. You approve that before drafting. It is also the document an adoption panel, a KHDA inspector or a state review committee asks for first.

We confirm the current version of the specification in writing before starting, because the most expensive error in this work is writing a whole title to last year's syllabus.
