Urdu book and newspaper digitisation — Content Factory
Urdu books and periodicals are set in Nastaliq, and older ones were lithographed from handwritten pages. OCR engines trained on Naskh Arabic cannot read either. Add worn impressions, bleed-through and yellowed paper, and machine output becomes unusable. Content Factory digitises old Urdu books and periodicals page by page, with native Urdu readers checking every line.

Every price below includes human verification by a native Urdu reader. The final per-page figure is fixed in writing after your free ten-page sample, because print quality and handwriting change the effort. Volume above 10,000 pages is priced lower.

2 · Scope and price
A per-page figure fixed in writing, based on what the sample showed: print quality, old script forms, handwriting, tables.
3 · Machine pass
Pages are cleaned, deskewed and run through Urdu-trained recognition, with Nastaliq, Naskh and mixed Urdu-English lines handled.
4 · Human verification
Native Urdu readers check every page against the image, restoring missing nuqta dots, retroflex letters and Nastaliq ligatures the machine broke apart.
5 · Delivery
Unicode Urdu in Word, searchable PDF, Excel, plain text or JSON, in the structure you need. Your files are deleted from our systems on request.

Frequently asked
Can you read lithographed Nastaliq pages?
Yes. Pages printed from handwritten Nastaliq are read by a native Urdu reader rather than an engine, and converted to modern Unicode Urdu. If you need the original spellings preserved, tell us in the brief.
Do you need the physical book?
No. Send scans or clear photos. If you only have the physical book, we can advise on scanning.
Can you keep the layout?
Yes. Chapters, headings, footnotes and page breaks are kept. Multi-column newspaper pages are separated into articles.
Can the text be used for a reprint?
Yes. The output is prepared for typesetting, and our studio can also handle layout and printing.
