Executive and professional biography writing

A biography is the document other people use on your behalf. A conference programme, a board pack, an investor deck, a press release — all of them need a paragraph about you, and if you do not supply a good one, somebody writes a worse one from your LinkedIn. Most executives have either nothing or a paragraph written for a different purpose five years ago.

What you receive

The handover

Finished files

Production-ready output in the format your printer, platform or workshop actually needs — press PDF, editable source, CAD file, font binary or deck, as the work requires.

Editable sources

The working files, not just the export, so your team can change the work later without coming back to us.

Full rights

Copyright transfers to you on final payment. Nothing we make for you is resold or reused elsewhere.

Two revision rounds

Included in the quoted price. Corrections are logged against the draft rather than argued over on a call.

How it works

Five steps, and you approve the first three

01 · Brief

You tell us what the finished thing has to do, and send whatever material you already have.

02 · Scope & price

A written scope, a fixed figure and a delivery date, usually within one working day.

03 · Structure

You sign off the architecture before production starts, so nothing large is built on a wrong assumption.

04 · Production

Work arrives in stages as it finishes, not all at the end, with two revision rounds included.

05 · Handover

Files, sources and rights in your hands, and the invoice closed.

In detail

Biography writing — how we produce it

We interview for about forty minutes, mostly about the two or three things you are genuinely known for. Executives tend to supply a career history when what a biography needs is a claim, supported.

The three lengths are written separately rather than cut down from one another, because a fifty-word biography is a different piece of writing from a three-hundred-word one, not a shortened version of it.

Fixed price agreed in writing, three to five working days, one revision round. Everything delivered in editable Word so you can send the right length the moment it is asked for.

What a biography has to do

Written in three lengths, because three lengths get asked for

Third person, always

“She led”, not “I led”. A biography is written to be reproduced by other people in their own materials, and first person cannot be.

Three lengths, prepared in advance

Fifty words for a programme listing, one hundred and fifty for a board pack or website, and three hundred for an investor deck or keynote introduction. Each is written properly, not truncated from the longest.

The credential that carries

Whatever makes you worth listening to on this subject, in the first sentence. Not your current title, which the programme already prints beside your name.

Scale without a resume

Revenue, headcount, capital, geography — enough for a reader to place you, in a sentence rather than a list.

One human detail, deliberately

Where you studied, where you live, what you serve on outside work. It gives an introducer something to say and stops the paragraph reading like a database entry.

Written to be read aloud

Most biographies are eventually spoken by someone introducing you. If it cannot be read aloud without stumbling, it will be edited badly by whoever is holding the microphone.

Biographies are usually commissioned with a LinkedIn rewrite or a board resume, since all three are read by the same people within a few minutes of each other.

What you receive

What you receive

  • Three biographies at fifty, one hundred and fifty and three hundred words
  • A board-specific version emphasising governance and committee experience
  • A speaker version written to be read aloud in an introduction
  • A first-person variant for your own website or LinkedIn
  • Guidance on what to update each year and what stays fixed
  • All versions in editable Word, ready to send when asked

Three to five working days, one revision round. Most clients find the fifty-word version the one they use most often.

Questions we are asked

Frequently asked

Why do I need three lengths?

Because three lengths get requested: a programme wants fifty words, a website wants a hundred and fifty, an investor deck wants three hundred. Cutting a long one down under time pressure produces a bad paragraph.

First person or third?

Third for anything other people will reproduce. We also supply a first-person variant for your own website and LinkedIn.

What goes in the first sentence?

The thing that makes you worth listening to on this subject — not your job title, which is usually printed beside your name anyway.

How often should it be updated?

Annually, and immediately after any role change or significant appointment. We mark which lines are designed to change.

Can you write a board-specific version?

Yes, and it is included. Nomination committees read for governance and committee experience, which a general biography underweights.

Questions

Before you commission

How much does thesis to book conversion cost?

Prices are fixed in writing before work begins. Scope, language count and turnaround move the figure; volume across a programme brings it down. Send the brief and you have a number within a working day.

How long does it take?

Most single deliverables run three to fourteen weeks depending on length and complexity. Programmes are staged so early parts reach you while later parts are still in production. You get a date with the quote.

Who does the work?

A specialist from our thesis to book team, with an editor and a production person on the same project. Everyone is bound by the same confidentiality terms.

Do I own the result?

Yes. Full copyright transfer, editable sources and production-ready files on final payment. Nothing is resold or reused.

Can it be produced in other languages?

Yes — any of a hundred-plus languages, typeset in the same studio so layout and page numbers match across editions.

Do you work with clients outside India?

Yes. Publishers, institutions and founders in the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Australia and Japan. Work is delivered by email and shared drive and quoted in US dollars.

What it costs

Published prices, and the LinkedIn profile is free

Most resume services will not quote until you have sent your document and had a conversation. Content Factory publishes the range: ₹2,500 to ₹10,000, decided by your profession and the seniority of the role you are applying for — a graduate resume sits at the bottom of that range and a chief executive package at the top. The figure is fixed in writing before any work starts.

The LinkedIn profile rewrite is included at no charge with every resume. Most services charge separately for it, which makes no sense — a recruiter reads the resume and the profile within minutes of each other, and any disagreement between the two counts against you. Content Factory writes both from one agreed position so they never contradict.

Where exactly you fall in the range depends on your profession and the level you are targeting, not on how long the document is. Send the resume you have now and you will have the figure the same working day — and if it needs nothing, we will tell you that instead.
