Cover letter writing

Most cover letters are discarded because they restate the resume in paragraphs. The letter earns its place only when it says something the resume cannot: why this employer specifically, why this role now, and what you understand about their situation. A letter that could be sent to any company in the sector is worse than no letter, because it demonstrates exactly the lack of effort the reader suspected.

What you receive

The handover

Finished files

Production-ready output in the format your printer, platform or workshop actually needs — press PDF, editable source, CAD file, font binary or deck, as the work requires.

Editable sources

The working files, not just the export, so your team can change the work later without coming back to us.

Full rights

Copyright transfers to you on final payment. Nothing we make for you is resold or reused elsewhere.

Two revision rounds

Included in the quoted price. Corrections are logged against the draft rather than argued over on a call.

How it works

Five steps, and you approve the first three

01 · Brief

You tell us what the finished thing has to do, and send whatever material you already have.

02 · Scope & price

A written scope, a fixed figure and a delivery date, usually within one working day.

03 · Structure

You sign off the architecture before production starts, so nothing large is built on a wrong assumption.

04 · Production

Work arrives in stages as it finishes, not all at the end, with two revision rounds included.

05 · Handover

Files, sources and rights in your hands, and the invoice closed.

In detail

Cover letter writing — how we produce it

We need the advertisement and something about the employer. A letter written without both is a template, and a template is what the reader is screening for.

We write one properly tailored letter and then give you the framework behind it, so you can produce the next twenty at the same standard. Paying for twenty letters individually is rarely sensible.

Fixed price agreed in writing. Two to three working days standalone, or included at a reduced rate with a resume or CV rewrite.

What a cover letter has to do

Say what the resume cannot

Open with them, not with you

“I am writing to apply for” wastes the strongest sentence on the page. Open with something specific about their situation that your record speaks to.

Answer the obvious objection

Every application has one — a gap, a pivot, a location, a seniority step. The letter is where it is addressed in your own words, before the reader forms their own explanation.

Three paragraphs, one page

Why them, what you bring with one piece of evidence, and what you propose next. Longer letters are skimmed, and skimming defeats the purpose of the letter entirely.

Evidence, not enthusiasm

One concrete result beats three sentences of interest in their mission. Enthusiasm is assumed from the fact of applying.

Speculative letters are different

No advertisement means no brief, so the letter must supply its own: a problem you can see in their business and a specific reason you are the person for it.

A framework for volume

If you are applying widely, a fixed structure with two variable paragraphs keeps quality high without rewriting from scratch each time. We supply the framework and the method.

Cover letters are usually commissioned with the resume, because the two must argue the same case in different registers and are read within a minute of each other.

What you receive

What you receive

  • A tailored cover letter for one named employer and role
  • A reusable framework with the two paragraphs to vary per application
  • A speculative version for approaches where no role is advertised
  • Guidance on addressing the objection your application carries
  • A short email version for applications submitted through a form
  • Notes on tone for the market you are applying into

Two to three working days for a single letter, or bundled with a resume rewrite at a lower combined price.

Questions we are asked

Frequently asked

Does anyone still read cover letters?

Hiring managers often do, especially for senior roles, career changes and speculative approaches. Recruiters frequently do not. Where it matters, it matters a great deal.

How long should it be?

One page, three paragraphs. Anything longer is skimmed, which defeats the object.

Can one letter work for many applications?

A framework can, with two paragraphs varied per employer. A single unchanged letter cannot, and reads as exactly what it is.

What about applications with no cover letter field?

A short email version, or the same argument compressed into the “additional information” box. We supply both.

Should I name a salary expectation?

Only if asked. If asked, give a range with a reason rather than a single figure, and we will write the sentence with you.

Questions

Before you commission

How much does thesis to book conversion cost?

Prices are fixed in writing before work begins. Scope, language count and turnaround move the figure; volume across a programme brings it down. Send the brief and you have a number within a working day.

How long does it take?

Most single deliverables run three to fourteen weeks depending on length and complexity. Programmes are staged so early parts reach you while later parts are still in production. You get a date with the quote.

Who does the work?

A specialist from our thesis to book team, with an editor and a production person on the same project. Everyone is bound by the same confidentiality terms.

Do I own the result?

Yes. Full copyright transfer, editable sources and production-ready files on final payment. Nothing is resold or reused.

Can it be produced in other languages?

Yes — any of a hundred-plus languages, typeset in the same studio so layout and page numbers match across editions.

Do you work with clients outside India?

Yes. Publishers, institutions and founders in the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Canada, Australia and Japan. Work is delivered by email and shared drive and quoted in US dollars.

What it costs

Published prices, and the LinkedIn profile is free

Most resume services will not quote until you have sent your document and had a conversation. Content Factory publishes the range: ₹2,500 to ₹10,000, decided by your profession and the seniority of the role you are applying for — a graduate resume sits at the bottom of that range and a chief executive package at the top. The figure is fixed in writing before any work starts.

The LinkedIn profile rewrite is included at no charge with every resume. Most services charge separately for it, which makes no sense — a recruiter reads the resume and the profile within minutes of each other, and any disagreement between the two counts against you. Content Factory writes both from one agreed position so they never contradict.

Where exactly you fall in the range depends on your profession and the level you are targeting, not on how long the document is. Send the resume you have now and you will have the figure the same working day — and if it needs nothing, we will tell you that instead.
