Real estate and infrastructure résumés in Mumbai: projects, approvals and closings
Mumbai property and infrastructure hiring is judged on delivered projects, and delivery in this city means approvals as much as construction. A candidate who has taken a project through the municipal process, the environmental clearances and RERA registration carries knowledge that cannot be acquired quickly.
Yet most résumés in the sector list project names and values without stating what the writer actually did on them. On a large project that omission is fatal, because a five-hundred-crore development employed a hundred people and the reader needs to know which one you were.
Project lines that carry your scope
One line per project with five facts: type, location, value or area, your role, and status at the point you left.
- Type — residential, commercial, mixed-use, industrial, road, transit, utility
- Scale — built-up area, unit count, contract value, or route kilometres
- Your discipline and whether you led it or supported
- Stage you were involved in — feasibility, design, approvals, execution, handover
- Outcome — delivered, ongoing at your exit, or stalled
Stating a project stalled is fine and common. Claiming delivery of something still incomplete is checkable in a market this visible.
Approvals and statutory work
This is the Mumbai-specific advantage and it belongs prominently. Municipal permissions, CRZ, environmental clearance, fire NOC, occupancy certificate, RERA registration and quarterly filings.
Name the authorities and the approvals obtained, with timelines where they were good. A candidate who has secured an OC is materially more valuable than one who has only built.
Delivery against programme and budget
Programme variance, cost variance, and what caused each. Honest treatment of a delayed project is stronger than silence, because every experienced reader assumes delays and wants to know how you handled them.
Include the contractual side: contract type, claims managed, variations, arbitration exposure. Developers hire for this specifically.
Software and standards
AutoCAD, Revit, Primavera, MS Project, SAP, and the codes you have worked to — IS codes, NBC, and international standards where relevant.
BIM experience is worth stating explicitly with the level and the discipline, because it remains scarce and is increasingly specified in tenders.
