Media and entertainment resumes in Mumbai: credits, not job titles

Mumbai runs India’s film, television and streaming industry, and it hires on credits rather than on employment history. A conventional resume listing employers and dates makes an experienced professional look like an outsider, because that is not how the industry describes itself.

Credits have a format. Getting it wrong marks a candidate before the work is assessed.

Credits in the industry’s own form

Production title, your role, the production house or platform, and the year. In the order the industry uses, not in a table of employers and dates.

Feature, series, documentary, advertisement and digital work are conventionally grouped separately, because the skills and the scale differ. Mixing them into one chronological list obscures the record.

Your role stated exactly

Assistant, associate, second unit, supervising, or lead. Mumbai is a small industry where claims are checked by phone, and overstating a credit is discovered quickly and remembered for a long time.

A clearly stated assistant credit on a significant production carries more weight than an inflated one on a smaller project.

Scale, in the terms the industry uses

Budget band, shoot days, crew size, number of episodes, platform and release. These place a credit for someone who has not seen the work, and they are frequently omitted because insiders assume everyone knows.

The reel or portfolio is the application

For any craft role the link is the document and the resume is the label on it. It must work, be unpassworded, and lead with the strongest piece rather than the most recent.

Then name that piece in the resume body with what your contribution to it actually was.

Business and platform roles read differently

Streaming platforms, studio business teams and production companies hiring for commissioning, marketing or operations want the conventional evidence: budgets managed, titles delivered, subscriber or viewership outcomes. That is a corporate resume with industry vocabulary, not a credit list.

Freelance is the norm, not a gap

Most Mumbai media careers are project-based. Group them by year with the productions named rather than presenting each as a separate short employment, which reads as instability to an outside parser.

How Content Factory writes it

Content Factory formats credits as the industry formats them, groups the work by type, and states scale in the terms a production reader recognises.

We look at your reel before writing, because a resume that promises more than the work delivers ends the review at the moment the reader clicks.

For business and platform roles we write the corporate version instead, with the industry vocabulary intact. Fixed price agreed in writing.
