HR and talent résumés in Mumbai: the metrics HR rarely writes about itself
HR professionals write the worst résumés of any function, and the reason is structural: they spend their careers reading other people’s and absorb the conventions of every field except their own. The result is documents full of the language HR advises candidates to avoid.
The function has hard numbers. Time to hire, cost per hire, offer acceptance, regretted attrition, retention after intervention. A Mumbai HR director is held to those, and a résumé that states them reads as someone who has been accountable.
Population and scope
Headcount supported, geographies, entities, and whether unionised. An HRBP supporting 180 people is doing a different job from one supporting 9,000, and the title will not say which.
Add the reporting line and whether you sat on any committee. Both place your seniority more accurately than a designation.
The hiring numbers
For talent acquisition roles these are the whole document:
- Positions closed, by level and function
- Time to hire, and the trend
- Cost per hire, and channel mix
- Offer acceptance rate and offer-to-join ratio
- Source-of-hire shift — agency dependence reduced, referrals grown
Offer-to-join is the Mumbai-specific one. In a market where counter-offers are routine, a candidate who has improved joining ratios has solved a problem every employer has.
Retention and the difficult work
Regretted attrition, retention after an intervention you designed, and engagement scores with the baseline. Plus the hard work: restructures, redundancies, integrations, disciplinary processes, litigation managed.
Difficult work is the credible work. Softening a redundancy programme into “organisational design support” removes the evidence of competence that employers specifically need.
Systems and compliance
Workday, SuccessFactors, Darwinbox, Keka — implementation separated from administration. Plus statutory exposure: PF, ESI, POSH, contract labour, shops and establishments across states.
Multi-state compliance in India is genuinely difficult and genuinely scarce. It belongs on the document rather than assumed.
How Content Factory writes it
Content Factory is a writing studio in Chennai, and résumés are one of the things we produce. HR résumés are the ones most improved by simply applying the advice the profession gives everyone else.
Every commission begins with your current document and two or three advertisements you are genuinely targeting. We interview briefly for the numbers behind each claim, because most candidates describe substantial work in language that makes it sound small.
The document is rebuilt single-column with standard headings and month-and-year dates, so applicant tracking systems parse it cleanly, and the wording is aligned to those advertisements without inventing experience you do not have. We will not promise an ATS score — there is no published scoring model and any number quoted to you is invented.
Mumbai clients receive editable Word and PDF within three to five working days, with one revision round. The price is fixed in writing before work begins and the work is yours outright.
