Banking and financial services resumes in Mumbai: the five numbers that decide a shortlist

Mumbai is India’s financial capital and BFSI hiring here is the most numerically screened of any sector in any Indian city. A recruiter at a private bank, an NBFC or a broking house is looking for five figures, and a resume without them does not enter the comparison.

Most Mumbai finance resumes describe responsibilities in prose instead. The candidate is often stronger than the one shortlisted; the document simply did not say so.

The five numbers

  • Book size, assets under management, or portfolio value — whatever you carried
  • Deal or transaction value, with your role stated precisely
  • P&L or revenue owned, and the limits you held
  • Client or account count, and the segment
  • Team size, where you led one

One line each. Together they place you in the hierarchy faster than any job title, and they are the terms in which a Mumbai finance conversation is actually conducted.

Licences and registrations are a hard screen

NISM certifications by series, CFA progress with the level honestly stated, FRM, CA, CS, and any SEBI or RBI registration attached to your role. These are compliance requirements for much of the work, not decorative additions.

State status and dates. A partially completed qualification stated accurately is a real signal; claiming a charter you do not hold ends applications and occasionally careers.

Regulatory exposure is worth its own line

Which regimes you have worked under, which inspections you have faced, which remediation you led. Compliance-heavy Mumbai employers weight this above deal volume, and candidates consistently omit it as though it were an unglamorous part of the job.

An RBI inspection survived or a SEBI observation closed is evidence no certificate provides.

Deals: name them where public, describe them where not

Public transactions can be named with your role — originated, executed, advised, supported. Live or confidential ones are described by sector, size and role, which is standard practice and read without concern by any Mumbai finance recruiter.

Vague involvement in a large transaction reads considerably worse than clear ownership of a smaller one.

A separate deal sheet

The resume keeps to two pages; the deal sheet carries the detail. This matters because when a recruiter advocates for you internally, the deal sheet is what gets attached, and a resume with transactions buried in bullets does not survive the forward.

How Content Factory writes it

Content Factory interviews for the numbers, because Mumbai finance professionals describe scale in internal shorthand that does not survive an external reader. What the desk did and what you personally carried are different figures, and the resume needs the second.

We produce the deal sheet as a separate document, write the regulatory exposure section most candidates skip, and describe confidential transactions the way the market expects.

Complete confidentiality including from your current desk. Priced as a fixed figure in writing before work begins.
