Three jobs in four years: writing short tenures without looking unstable
Three employers in four years reads as a risk to a Hyderabad recruiter, whatever the reasons were. They are not judging you — they are calculating whether you will still be there in eighteen months after a costly hiring process.
The doubt is predictable, which means it can be answered before it forms. Almost nobody does, and the resume simply carries the pattern unexplained.
Give each short stay a reason, in a clause
Project completed and team disbanded. Company wound down. Acquired and function relocated. Contract role of fixed duration. Relocated for family. Each of these is a single clause after the dates.
“Aug 2023 – Mar 2024 (contract engagement, fixed term)” removes the entire question. Without it a reader assumes the worst available explanation.
Mark contract and consulting work as such
A great deal of Hyderabad technology work is contract or vendor-based, and a series of eight-month engagements is completely normal in that model. But a resume that lists them like permanent jobs reads as five resignations.
Group them under the vendor or staffing firm where that is how it worked, with the client engagements beneath.
Show progression across the moves
If each move was upward — scope, title, complexity — the pattern is ambition rather than instability. Make that visible by stating scope at each step rather than leaving the reader to infer it from titles alone.
One long tenure carries a lot
If anywhere in your history you stayed four or five years, give it space. It answers the stability question by itself and most candidates with a mixed record underweight it.
What not to do
Do not stretch dates to close gaps or make stays look longer. Verification checks these against HR records, and a discrepancy discovered after an offer is far more damaging than the original pattern.
Prepare the answer for the room
You will be asked directly. Two sentences: the pattern, and why this role is different. Candidates who improvise here often sound defensive about something entirely defensible.
How Content Factory writes it
Content Factory writes a one-clause reason against every short tenure, which is the cheapest and most effective improvement available to a mixed employment record.
We group contract and vendor engagements the way that model actually works, so a normal consulting career stops reading as five resignations.
And we write the two-sentence interview answer with you. Fixed price agreed in writing before work begins.
