Hyderabad freshers: what to write when you have nothing to write about

The standard Hyderabad fresher résumé opens with an objective nobody reads, lists skills nobody has reason to believe, and describes a final-year project in a single line. All three problems have the same cause: describing yourself rather than showing evidence.

A recruiter screening campus applications has no experience to assess, so they assess proof. A project with a stated result, a responsibility with an outcome, a skill that appears somewhere else on the page as something you actually did.

Projects written as work

The final-year project is usually the strongest thing on a fresher résumé and it is usually given one line. Give it four:

• What the problem was, in plain terms
• What you built, and with what
• What you personally did, if it was a team project
• What the result was — accuracy, speed, whether it worked, what you would change

Written this way, an academic project reads as experience. Written as a title and a date, it reads as coursework.

Skills that carry proof

Every skill claimed should be visible elsewhere on the page. If you list Python, a project should use it. If you list communication, something should evidence it — a society you ran, a competition you presented at.

Drop the rest. “Excellent communication skills, team player, quick learner” appears on nearly every fresher résumé in Hyderabad and is discounted on sight.

Education positioned properly

For a fresher, education goes near the top with the marks, relevant coursework and the project. This is the opposite of an experienced résumé and it is correct until you have two years of work.

Include the marks. Campus placements screen on them, and omitting them is read as concealing them.

Everything else that counts

Internships however short, with what you actually did rather than “assisted the team”. Positions of responsibility. Events organised. Competitions. Part-time work that involved money or people.

One page. A two-page fresher résumé is padding, and every recruiter reading campus applications recognises it immediately.
