Experience is usually counted from the date of joining a regular post, not from an internship or contract engagement unless the notification says otherwise. Getting this wrong is the commonest disqualification we see.

For all of these a conventional resume is read, and it should lead with the scale of what you administered rather than with responsibilities.

The reverse move is harder and more common than people expect. Government experience described in administrative language — sanctioned, processed, coordinated — reads as procedural to a private hiring manager.

The same work restated as budget administered, stakeholders managed, programme delivered and outcome achieved is recognisable to them. Nothing is exaggerated; the vocabulary changes.
