How Chennai recruiters actually search LinkedIn, and what that means for your profile
Recruiters do not browse LinkedIn. They run a search — a job title, a skill, a location filter set to Chennai, sometimes a current-employer filter — and read the first two pages of results. A profile that is complete but does not contain the words they typed is invisible, however impressive it is.
This reframes the whole exercise. The question is not “is my profile good” but “does my profile contain the terms a Chennai recruiter in my field would type”. Those are different questions with different answers.
Which fields carry weight
Roughly in order: the headline, current job title, past job titles, the skills section, and the About section. The experience descriptions matter less for being found and more for being believed once found.
This is why the headline is the highest-leverage field on the page, and why repeating your job title in it — which LinkedIn already indexes separately — wastes it.
A headline that works
Two hundred and twenty characters. State what you do, for whom, and include the terms someone would search. “Senior Manager” uses eleven of them and adds nothing.
“Supply chain lead — manufacturing and FMCG distribution | S/4HANA, demand planning, network design | Chennai” is findable on six different searches.
Skills in ranked order
The top three are weighted most heavily and displayed most prominently. Most Chennai profiles leave them in whatever order LinkedIn suggested three years ago, which is frequently wrong.
Reorder them deliberately to match what you want to be found for. Endorsements help marginally; the order helps more.
Open to work, and the two versions
You can signal availability to recruiters only, without the photo frame. For anyone employed in Chennai, that is usually the right choice — the market is small and the frame is visible to colleagues.
Fill in the job preferences properly. Recruiters filter on them, and an empty preference field means you are excluded from searches you would have matched.
Consistency with the résumé
Dates, titles and scope must match. Chennai recruiters compare the two routinely, and a discrepancy is a standard screening flag regardless of how it arose.
The tone should differ — the profile is first person and more open, the résumé compressed and formal — but the facts cannot.
How Content Factory writes it
Content Factory is a writing studio in Chennai, and résumés are one of the things we produce. We write the profile as text you paste in yourself, and we never ask for your password. Anyone who does should be refused.
Every commission begins with your current document and two or three advertisements you are genuinely targeting. We interview briefly for the numbers behind each claim, because most candidates describe substantial work in language that makes it sound small.
The document is rebuilt single-column with standard headings and month-and-year dates, so applicant tracking systems parse it cleanly, and the wording is aligned to those advertisements without inventing experience you do not have. We will not promise an ATS score — there is no published scoring model and any number quoted to you is invented.
Chennai clients receive editable Word and PDF within three to five working days, with one revision round. The price is fixed in writing before work begins and the work is yours outright.
