QA and test automation résumés in Bengaluru: coverage, not test cases
Quality engineering has changed faster than its résumés have. A document describing test cases written and bugs logged describes a role many Bengaluru employers no longer hire for. What they hire for is automation coverage, pipeline integration and defect prevention.
The distinction that decides applications: did you use a framework someone else built, or did you build one? Both are legitimate, and hiring managers separate them in the first technical conversation, so the résumé should be clear about which.
The numbers that matter now
Coverage and prevention, rather than volume of activity:
- Automation coverage percentage, and what it was when you arrived
- Regression cycle time, before and after
- Defect leakage to production, and its trend
- Test execution time reduced, and how
- Manual effort eliminated, in hours per release
“Took regression from a four-day manual cycle to a ninety-minute pipeline run, cutting leakage from 8 per cent to 2” is the strongest single line a QA candidate can write.
Built or used
State it plainly. Having designed a framework — the architecture, the reporting, the data strategy, the parallel execution — is a senior claim. Having written tests within an existing one is a different and perfectly respectable claim.
Overstating this fails immediately, because the follow-up question is always about a design decision you would have had to make.
Pipeline and environment
Where your tests ran and what happened when they failed. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, and whether a failure blocked the release.
Tests that run on a laptop are a different contribution from tests wired into a gate. Bengaluru employers hiring SDETs are buying the second.
Manual to automation transition
Many Bengaluru QA professionals are making this move. The evidence is the same as any technical transition: something you built that works and can be inspected, plus honest positioning about level.
Lead with the automation, however small, and keep the manual record as context. A résumé that opens with test case counts has answered the wrong question.
How Content Factory writes it
Content Factory is a writing studio in Chennai, and résumés are one of the things we produce. QA documents need reframing from activity to prevention, which usually means the numbers exist in release reports nobody thought to mine.
Every commission begins with your current document and two or three advertisements you are genuinely targeting. We interview briefly for the numbers behind each claim, because most candidates describe substantial work in language that makes it sound small.
The document is rebuilt single-column with standard headings and month-and-year dates, so applicant tracking systems parse it cleanly, and the wording is aligned to those advertisements without inventing experience you do not have. We will not promise an ATS score — there is no published scoring model and any number quoted to you is invented.
Bengaluru clients receive editable Word and PDF within three to five working days, with one revision round. The price is fixed in writing before work begins and the work is yours outright.
