DevOps and SRE résumés in Bengaluru: reliability is the number

Infrastructure work is judged on what did not happen. That makes it hard to write about, and it is why most DevOps and SRE résumés in Bengaluru read as tool inventories: Terraform, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Prometheus, and nothing about what any of it achieved.

The engineers who get interviews state the reliability numbers. Uptime achieved, incidents reduced, recovery time shortened, deployment frequency increased, cost brought down. Those are the terms a hiring manager thinks in, and they are almost always available to anyone who has done the work.

The reliability figures

Put these near the top of each role, with the starting position where you know it:

  • Uptime or availability achieved, and against what SLO
  • Incident count and severity mix, and how it changed
  • MTTR — mean time to recovery, before and after
  • Deployment frequency and change failure rate
  • Error budget consumption, if your organisation tracked it

“Reduced P1 incidents from eleven to two a quarter by rebuilding the alerting and runbooks” is a complete argument in one line.

Infrastructure scale

Nodes, clusters, regions, services, request volume, data volume, monthly cloud spend. A platform engineer running three clusters is doing different work from one running ninety, and the technology list is identical in both cases.

Cloud spend is a particularly strong signal in the current market. Managing a two-crore annual cloud bill is a scope statement, and reducing it by a fifth is an achievement most hiring managers will ask about immediately.

Toil eliminated

The distinguishing mark of a genuine SRE is having removed work rather than absorbed it. Manual processes automated, on-call load reduced, runbooks replaced by self-healing.

Quantify it in hours per week recovered, or in the number of interventions removed. This is the section that separates SRE candidates from system administrators with newer tools.

The tooling line, kept honest

Bengaluru recruiters do search on Terraform, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, Datadog and the rest, so the terms have to be present. Put them in one dense line near the end, only including what you would be interviewed on.

Listing a tool you touched once is a trap. In this field the follow-up question is always practical, and vagueness about a tool you listed yourself reads worse than not listing it.

How Content Factory writes it

Content Factory is a writing studio in Chennai, and résumés are one of the things we produce. Infrastructure résumés usually need the least new information and the most reordering — the numbers exist in dashboards the candidate has stopped looking at.

Every commission begins with your current document and two or three advertisements you are genuinely targeting. We interview briefly for the numbers behind each claim, because most candidates describe substantial work in language that makes it sound small.

The document is rebuilt single-column with standard headings and month-and-year dates, so applicant tracking systems parse it cleanly, and the wording is aligned to those advertisements without inventing experience you do not have. We will not promise an ATS score — there is no published scoring model and any number quoted to you is invented.

Bengaluru clients receive editable Word and PDF within three to five working days, with one revision round. The price is fixed in writing before work begins and the work is yours outright.
